AML3D breaks into the US defense market with Bondi Partners' support
Australian advanced manufacturer AML3D (ASX: AL3) has cemented its place in the United States defence supply chain, landing multimillion-dollar contracts at Newport News Shipbuilding and securing access to decision-makers across the US Navy and Congress — the product of a 12-month engagement with Bondi Partners.
The ASX-listed South Australian company, which builds large-scale metal parts using its proprietary Arcemy wire-arc additive manufacturing systems, has become a case study in how ambitious Australian businesses can win real work in the world’s most competitive defence market.
Speaking to The Advertiser, AML3D CEO Sean Ebert credited the firm’s US breakthrough to the relationships built on the ground:
“The assignment with them [Bondi Partners] actually got us through to all the right people in the US Navy and into Congress as well. It got us in front of the politicians who are big supporters of AUKUS and of course the Ohio politicians. We had a lot of really good support from Bondi Partners.”
AML3D delivered an AU$4.5m Arcemy system commissioned at Newport News Shipbuilding — the largest military shipbuilder in the United States — and has since secured a follow-on order worth approximately AU$9.9m for a further four systems, scheduled for delivery in early 2027. The company is scaling its US footprint from Plympton in South Australia to Stow, Ohio, with further expansion underway across the United Kingdom, Korea and Japan.
For Bondi Partners, the result reflects the core of what the firm does: getting Australian businesses in front of the right people in the markets that matter. With teams across the United States, Australia, Japan and the United Kingdom, Bondi Partners helps companies navigate complex regulatory, political and commercial environments — and turn access into contracts.
Congratulations to Sean Ebert and the entire AML3D team on a standout result for Australian advanced manufacturing on the world stage.
