Senior Advisor

Ian is a former senior Australian Defence Force officer with three decades of experience in special operations command and strategic capability development. He commanded the 2nd Commando Regiment and led multiple Special Operations Task Groups on operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, and on domestic counter-terrorism duties. On two separate occasions he served as Head of Land Capability, responsible for the Australian Army's future strategic investments, major capital acquisitions, and critical sustainment systems.

Ian's operational service spans Timor-Leste, Afghanistan, Iraq, and the broader Indo-Pacific. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross three times for his service. A Distinguished Graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College and the School of Advanced Warfighting, he holds a doctorate from Deakin University and is a Professor at the University of New South Wales. He retired from the Army as a Brigadier in 2023.
