China realizing ‘bullying doesn’t work’ with Australia: Joe Hockey

Sky News Australia | November 3, 2023

Former treasurer Joe Hockey discusses how China now realises going down the “bullying path” doesn’t work with Australia.

His remarks come as Prime Minister Anthony Albanese visits Beijing this weekend.

“China has become incredibly aggressive over the last few years in our region and around the world,” Mr Hockey told Sky News Australia.

He pointed out both Liberal and Labor governments have stood up to China as “we can’t be bullied”.

“Now there is a thawing that has come about for a number of reasons but one of them is China realises that going down the bullying path doesn’t work with Australia.”
