US midterm elections indicate abortion rights a major issue for voters

Republicans are closing in on a narrow majority in the House after the US midterm elections.
But the results were far from expectations of a sweeping red wave.
The Senate is still undecided, with the balance of control likely to be up in the air until a run-off election in Georgia next month.
Alex Tureman is a Senior Advisor at Bondi Partners in Washington DC and also served as Senior Advisor to Australia’s Ambassador to the United States of America Joe Hockey.
He told ABC NewsRadio’s Thomas Oriti that voters were faced with a choice between extremist Republicans and moderate mainstream Democrats.
